Cascade Community Foundation Meeting

October 31, 2002

7:30 a.m.

Cascade Township Conference Room

All members were present.

Claude Robinson was nominated and will serve as Chairperson. Susan Roeder will serve as Vice-Chair and Jack Lewis will be Secretary.

Sandi Parrish presented the donor pyramid on cultivation, participation and commitment.

Potential gift givers will be identified from Cascade businesses (Personal Property list) and residents (newsletter mailing list).

A major giver list will be cultivated of people capable of giving large donations. A gift of $5,000 will be considered a major donation. The 100 most valuable homes in the Township will be identified and evaluated. (List sorted by SEV) Country club membership, church directories, and lists of donors to other organizations will target capable givers.

Cultivating a first time giver list will be accomplished through direct mail, special events, telephone solicitation and personal contact. A direct mail piece will be the first step.

Jack Lewis visited area accounting firms to pass out the attached flyer.

Sandi Parrish questioned if there might be someone in the community willing to donate office space and some seed money for start-up.

Major givers (approximately 100-200) should be invited to a special event such as a breakfast or after dinner event. There should be a short program and welcome by Chairperson Robinson. After the event mail a follow-up letter with levels of giving at $1000, $2500, $5000, $10,000, and $25,000.

The next 6 months the board will concentrate on:

1. Identify and evaluate the 100-200 major prospects by February 1st.

2. Plan a special event for major donor prospects to take place around April 30.

3. Invitations mailed by March 31.

4. A letter to all residents mailed around May 1.

5. Follow-up letter mailed in late May or early June.

6. A celebration event, to include everyone, marking the 1st anniversary. This could be a cocktails / hors d’oeuvres event.

During the December meeting there will be a discussion about what is need for infrastructure.

Next meeting is scheduled for November 21st at 7:30 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Jeanie Neve
