Cascade to Host Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
New additions include Carolers, a Visit from Mrs. Claus and a Holiday Gift for Kids

Cascade Township, Michigan, Nov. 19, 2018 – Cascade Historical Society, in partnership with Cascade Charter Township’s DDA, will host its annual tree lighting event on Sunday, Nov. 25.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Cascade Historical Museum, 2839 Thornapple River Drive SE. This year is expected to be the biggest yet, with several new additions, including a performance from the Original Dickens Carolers, a visit from Mrs. Claus and a holiday gift for the younger attendees.

The tree lighting will also feature a new 14-foot tree, which will be placed in the middle of the lawn at the museum’s gardens. A smaller tree was located on the museum’s porch in previous years.

“We had a phenomenal turnout last year and are looking forward to an even bigger and better event to kick of this year’s holiday season,” said Economic Development Director Sandra Korhorn. “Attendees will get to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy some tasty holiday goodies and soak in the wonderful holiday spirit that only comes during this time of year.”

Arriving by a Cascade fire truck, Santa will be stationed inside the museum and available for visits with kids throughout the event. Mrs. Claus will be visiting with children in the gardens. There is no charge for visits or pictures with Santa or Mrs. Claus.

In addition to the tree in the museum’s gardens, holiday lights will be strung on the museum’s rooftop as well as several structures in Tassell Park and many river birch trees. There will also be second holiday tree, approximately 16-feet tall, located at the intersection of Old 28th Street and Cascade Road.

Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.
