The Treasurer is required to receive and take charge of all funds belonging to the township and to pay over and account for the funds. The treasurer is the township’s agent for collecting taxes. The treasurer diligently maintains accurate records of all income, receipts and disbursements, promptly deposits all receipts, and invests surplus funds.
The Deputy Treasurer assists in the collection and administration of property taxes, township revenues, banking and reconciliation of tax accounts and other township funds. The deputy treasurer also assists in balancing/closing of books and preparation of financial statements.
Legislative
The Township Treasurer is a voting member of the seven person Township Board. This includes policy making, general township business decisions and zoning related issues.
