Summer
Summer taxes are mailed on July 1 and are payable without interest or penalties through September 14. If September 14 falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date is extended to the next business day.
Cascade Charter Township is authorized to collect property taxes for three school districts; Forest Hills Public Schools, Caledonia Community Schools and Lowell Area Schools. According to your school district, half of the operating and debt millages plus 100% of the millage for Kent Intermediate School District, Kent County operation, Grand Rapids Community College and State Education are collected on the summer (July 1) bill.
Winter
Winter taxes are mailed on December 1 and payable without interest or penalties through February 14. If February 14 falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date is extended to the next business day.
According to your school district, half of the operating and debt millages plus 100% of the millage for the Township, the Kent District Library, and Kent County jail, museum, zoo, child and senior millages are collected on the winter (December 1) bill. The winter bill may also include Kent County Drain assessments, hydrant and/or light district assessments, extension water and sewer assessments and delinquent usage bills.
When a property has a Principal Residence exemption (PRE), i.e. there is no tax collected for any school operating expenses, that line item will read $.00. At the top of the bill, there will also be an indication of PRE/QUALIFIED AGRICULTURAL EXEMPTION AMOUNT. The taxable value will be stated with the percent of PRE following in parenthesis, (i.e. 40,608 (100%)).
Cascade Township only collects real property taxes through the last day of February of any given year. All unpaid Ad Valorem real property taxes on March 1 are turned over delinquent to the Kent County Treasurer’s Office (616-632-7500) for continued collection.
Deferments
Summer tax deferment applications are available for households with annual income of less than $40,000 and should be filed every year by September 14. The applicant(s) must also be 1).
62 years of age or older, (including the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 years or older at the time of death), 2).paraplegic or quadriplegic, 3). an eligible service person, veteran or their eligible widow or widower, 4). a blind person or 5). a totally and permanently disabled person. Those that farm agricultural real property may also qualify if gross receipts of the farming operation are not less than the household income of the owner. Both summer and winter taxes should be paid in full by February 14. More information and deferment applications may be obtained from the Cascade Township office.

Payment by credit card is not required by Cascade Charter Township and is offered as an option to the payer.
Taxpayers making a credit card payment using this system will be charged a convenience fee based on the amount of their transaction. The fee is paid to the service provider. The Township does not receive any fee and does not have access to your credit card information.
You also can use your bank account transaction for payment. Please see the fee schedule for additional details.
Online payments are accepted during regular tax collection periods, i.e. July through September 14, 5:00 pm for the summer taxes, and December through February 14, 5 pm for the winter taxes. If the 14th falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date will fall on the next business day.
