Zoning
Zoning determines how land can be used and developed within Cascade Charter Township. It divides the Township into districts, each with its own rules for the types of homes, businesses, and other uses allowed, as well as standards like how far buildings must sit from property lines, how tall they can be, and how much of a lot they can cover. Zoning is guided by the Cascade Charter Township Master Plan, which reflects the community's long-term vision for future land use, and the Zoning Ordinance is the tool the Township uses to carry out the Master Plan's goals, translating that vision into the specific district boundaries, permitted uses, and development standards applied to individual properties.
These regulations help maintain the character of Cascade Township's neighborhoods and corridors, from its rural and agricultural areas to its established residential streets and commercial districts. By guiding where and how development happens, zoning helps protect property values, preserve natural features and open space, manage traffic and growth, and ensure new development fits in with its surroundings.
